How SHL handles the current situation
SHL staff is working remotely for the time being and is available to answer your questions and provide you with support as during usual operations.
We remain in contact with the responsible Swiss and Cantonal authorities and in this rapidly changing situation, information displayed on this page will be updated regularly as new data is received. The health and safety of all students, lecturers, employees and society in general is our top priority at SHL.

SHL Campus in Lucerne
SHL closed Monday 16. March 2020 and will not open until Monday 20. April 2020 at the earliest. The closing of the school has no effects on the academic progress for the current BSc in Hospitality Management students.
Our students receive regular updates on the situation and all SHL information on the Coronavirus is available on our website. We sincerely request that you consult the website for information and answers to your questions in the first instance.

Which schools are affected by the instruction ban for schools?
The ban applies to all public and private schools at all levels from kindergarten to universities, as well as all other educational establishments in the Canton of Lucerne. SHL students and staff may not enter any of the SHL premises and no exceptions will be made.
Is the administration still open?
Although the Front Office is not open, we are available per email at firstname.lastname@example.org and per phone from Monday to Friday between 8am to 12am at +41 41 417 33 33. All SHL employees are working remote for the time being and can be reached at their direct numbers or by e-mail.
Will there be online classes?
Yes. SHL has systems and tools in place to provide remote learning. Clearly, the pedagogical aspects, course material and delivery will be adapted to an online approach.
Can students living in Hotel SHL stay on-site?
All students who are able to return home, in Switzerland or abroad are strongly advised to do so. Hotel SHL will remain open until further notice for students living on campus who are unable to return home due to governmental travel restrictions. Students who are unable to travel home should contact Mr. Thomas Schumacher by email at email@example.com.
My post gets sent to SHL. How do I receive it now?
We forward the students' post to their private addresses weekly.
Will all events taking place at SHL campuses be postponed?Yes, all events originally scheduled during the school closure will be postponed. There will however be virtual sessions substituting some events.
I am currently living abroad - may I go back to Switzerland?Please observe the travel regulations that apply in your country of residence.
My family lives abroad and I would therefore like to leave Switzerland. Can I do that?
That decision is up to you. Please inform yourself about the entry regulations of your destination. Here you can find out what you should bear in mind when travelling.

What happens if my internship company closes?
If your internship company is forced to close, this will not affect your academic progress at SHL.
I received notice of termination during my internship during the trial period or my contract was terminated early. What next?
Please get a confirmation of employment which clearly states that the termination was due to the current situation.
My internship was interrupted by the company indefinitely. What should I do?
Please stay at home and follow federal instructions.
I was offered reduced working hours. How do I react now?
We advise students to agree to reduced working hours in order to secure their jobs and avoid termination. Further information on reduced working hours can be found here.
